Katy's bed gently rocked, like a boat on a lake. It was so soothing that she thought she could lie there all day. She closed her eyes again, and the bed continued rocking.

'Wait!' she thought as she sat straight up. 'My bed doesn't rock!'

She gasped when she realized that she wasn't in her bed. She was floating in a small yellow rowboat in the middle of a lake! Perched on the bow was a very curious looking squirrel.

The squirrel stopped chewing her acorn, and chirped, "Welcome to Camp Mockingbird." Her tiny paw brushed her nose and she bowed. "My name is Chitter."

"Camp Mockingbird just opened for the summer, but almost nobody is here. Most kids would rather watch TV than go to camp." She gave a disapproving look and took another nibble on her acorn.

"But it's so lovely here," Katy observed. She could see an archery range in the distance and a beautiful swimming pool.

"It is, but it needs something new. Something kids really want!"

Katy looked all around the lake. It was an idyllic setting. Just then, she had an idea. She took the oars and began to row to shore.

Notes from Katatude:
"Based on the summer camp I went to as a teen-ager. : )"
